Can Aldershot salvage Burlington's Food Truck Festival?

In her biweekly column on Oct. 25, Joan Little revealed that Burlington city council voted four to one against holding future summer Food Truck Festivals in Spencer Smith Park. With concerns from downtown businesses, the council suggested exploring other city venues for the popular event. PA (Partnering Aldershot), an advocacy group, saw an opportunity and, along with Ward 1’s Kelvin Galbraith and ABIA CEO Andrea Dodd, proposed LaSalle Park and Hidden Valley Park in Aldershot as potential locations.

Can Aldershot salvage Burlington's Food Truck Festival?

Street Eats Markets, a food truck events promotion company, joined the effort, confident in the suitability of LaSalle Park for the festival. Despite missing the application deadline, the group sought an extension from city events staff, who are now considering the proposal. A meeting is scheduled to discuss logistics, including parking, washrooms, and cleanup.

The hope is that the "Aldershot Food Truck Festival" can proceed in 2024, supported by local businesses, residents, city council, and engaged festival staff. Updates will be provided as the application progresses.

Jim Young, a member of Partnering Aldershot, expressed gratitude to all involved.
